Domain Teknologi

The Technology Domain is a component-driven, technical framework categorising the standards and technologies to support and enable the delivery of Application Components and its capabilities (Application Services). It also unifies any existing agency-specific into one common standards by providing a foundation to advance and promote the re-use and standardisation of technology and Service Components from a government-wide perspective.

Aligning agency capital investments to the technology leverages a common, standardised vocabulary, allowing better inter-agency discovery, collaboration and interoperability. Both individual Public Agencies and the Malaysian Government will benefit from economies of scale by identifying and re-using the best solutions and technologies to support the business functions, mission and target architecture.

Organised in a hierarchy, this document categorises the standards and technologies that collectively support the secure delivery, exchange and construction of business and application Service Components that may be used and leveraged in a component-based or service-oriented architecture (CBA or SOA, used synonymously from here onward). The tiers are:

  1. Service Access & Delivery Technology; defines the collection of Access and Delivery Channels that will be used by the application component & services, and the legislative requirements that govern its use and interaction.
  2. Service Platform & Infrastructure Technology; defines the collection of platforms, hardware and infrastructure standards that enable technology replication, sharing & re-usability.
  3. Component Framework Technology; defines the underlying foundation and technical elements by which applications are built, integrated and deployed across component-based and distributed architectures.
  4. Service Interface & Integration Technology; defines the discovery, interaction and communication technologies joining disparate systems and information providers, in order to enable interoperability and scalability.
Service Access & Delivery Technology

Service Access & Delivery refers to the collection technology channel that can be used by the application component and services access and delivery, and the legislative requirements that govern its use and interaction.

  1. Access Channel; define the interface between an application and its users. The Technology Service Standards defined by the Malaysian Government will serve as a common standard to be adhered to by all ministries and agencies, to ensure standardization of access of all Malaysian Government application.
  2. Delivery Channel; define the level of access to applications and systems based upon the type of network used to deliver them.
  3. Customized Service Requirements; define the necessary aspects of an application, system or service including legislation, performance and hosting aspects.
  4. Service Transport; defines the end-to-end management of the communications session to include the access and delivery protocols.

Service Platform & Infrastructure refers to the collection of platforms, hardware and infrastructure standards that enable technology replication, sharing & re-usability.

  1. Framework Support Platform; defines the technology platform used to support the application component.
  2. Servers Hosting; refers to front-end platforms that provide information to a requesting application. It includes the hardware, operating system, server software and networking protocols. Front-end platforms stop where the front-end engages with the back-end or client management using service integration.
  3. Software Engineering; refers to the technology associated with building software systems, as well as technical solutions supporting management issues such as testing, modelling and versioning. The category is concerned with component technical architecture, not engineering processes.
  4. Databases & Storage; refers to programs that enable storage, modification and extraction of information from a database, and various techniques and devices for storing large amounts of data.
  5. Hardware/ Infrastructure; defines the physical devices, facilities and standards providing the computing and networking within and between enterprises.

Component Framework refers to the underlying foundation and technical elements by which applications are built, integrated and deployed across component-based and distributed architectures.

  1. Security; defines the methods of protecting information and information systems from unauthorised access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification or destruction in order to provide integrity, confidentiality and availability.
  2. Presentation/Interface; defines the connection between the user and the software, and consists of the presentation that is physically represented on the screen.
  3. Business Logic; defines the software, protocol or method by which business rules are enforced within applications. Data Interchange; defines the methods in which data is transferred and represented in and between software applications.
  4. Data Management; refers to the management of all data/information in an organisation. It includes data administration, the standards for defining data and the way in which people perceive and use it.

Service Interface & Integration refers to the discovery, interaction and communication technologies joining disparate systems and information providers, in order to enable interoperability and scalability.

  1. Integration; defines the software services enabling elements of distributed business applications to interoperate. These elements can share function, content and communications across heterogeneous computing environments. In particular, service integration offers a set of architecture services such as platform and service location transparency, transaction management, basic messaging between two points, and guaranteed message delivery.
  2. Interoperability; defines the capabilities of discovering and sharing data and services across disparate systems and vendors.
  3. Interface; defines the capabilities of communicating, transporting and exchanging information through a common dialogue or method. Delivery channels provide the information to reach the intended destination, whereas interfaces allow the interaction to occur based on a pre-determined framework.
